with basic yoga asanas to connect deeply to the physical practice, improve posture, balance and awareness both on and off the mat.
Core X-Press (30 min) (Open Level)

Pilates Fusion (Pilates for Modern Dance) (Open Level)
This class combines Pilates mat exercises with Modern dance movements.
Specific energy, momentum, dynamics and rhythm are added to evolve simple Pilates mat choreography into expressive movement phrases.
This class begins by exploring the basic core principles and mat choreography of Pilates, with the use of props. In a progressive development from floor to standing, a series of recognizable movements are strung together to form phrases of Humphrey-Limon dance technique floor work. The phrases are based on the fundamentals of gravity or weight, suspension, opposition and fall and recovery. Each phrase challenges the core’s stability and the body’s coordination while reinforcing correct alignment. Practicing how to sustain isolated neutral positions of the pelvis, spine and shoulders, allows for a wider range of movement variations that are supported yet fluid.

In this class we will focus on breathing, coordination, increasing muscle control and alignment of the body. The class will be slightly slower and exercises will be explained more in detail. For those that are taking Pilates for the first time, this class is recommended.
Pilates Mat (Intermediate/advanced)

This class combines Modern dance with Chinese health exercise forms and Yoga to give the benefits of these ancient forms in a movement oriented class. The first section of class is composed of a series of standing exercises which develop strength in the hips, legs and upper arms while improving breath, posture and stamina. Daily tensions are released through the use of the breath throughout the class and during the stretching exercises done on the floor at the end of class.
This exercise form was developed by Thomas based on her 16 years of study in Chinese healing arts, 25 years of dance training and study in several yoga forms as well as her research about women’s bodies during her own pregnancy and childbirth. She has created an exercise technique which is done to international music, is fun to do and in which students reap the benefits of her knowledge of the body.Classes are wonderful for all ages as they are not overly strenuous. Classes can be done during pregnancy helping prepare the body for the birth process and can help in recovery post-partem. Emphasis is placed on women’s problem areas and on keeping the body youthful and healthy through focusing on alignment and improving the breathing capabilities. Classes are kept small to allow for individual attention.
